What Tottenham are thinking about signing a ‘creative passer’ in midfield this January

A new report has shed light on whether we are likely to see any more midfield additions come through the door at Tottenham following Conor Gallagher.

Conor Gallagher and Souza are expected to be announced as Spurs players soon, but the Lilywhites still have a lot of work to do in the transfer market.

Not all Tottenham fans are convinced Gallagher will be a game-changing signing, and their concerns are understandable, with the former Chelsea man possessing some of the same weaknesses in possession as other midfielders in their squad.

Spurs are expected to work swiftly to secure at least one other signing this window, and a new report has now shed light on whether another midfielder is likely to come through the door.

Tottenham want to add a creative passer to their squad

The Times have now revealed that Thomas Frank’s men have identified the need for a creative passer from deep, which is a profile that the Tottenham squad currently lacks.

However, the report says that it is not clear if such a signing can be made during the current transfer window. There is a possibility that Spurs’ pursuit of a deep-lying playmaker will be deferred to the end of the season.

It is revealed that Adam Wharton, who is one of the players on the radar of Tottenham and several other Premier League clubs, is unlikely to leave Crystal Palace mid-season.

Spurs are not in a position to attract world-class talent

Given the ongoing turmoil at Tottenham and the club’s current position in the Premier League table, some pundits feel top players would not be too keen on a move to N17.

While Spurs may be dreaming of landing the likes of Wharton or Yan Diomande, those players will likely have plenty of options to choose from.

The Lilywhites’ best hope may be to make decent squad additions this window and hope that they are much better placed to attract world-class talent to the club in the summer.
