Tottenham Hotspur have taken a surprising decision regarding their search for a new sporting director as they continue to work on big-money deals.
Spurs have already completed four signings, with Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson being followed through the door by Martin Dubravka this week.
Additionally, Tottenham are also working on some big-money signings and could be about to shatter their previous transfer record more than once this window.
Surprisingly, the Lilywhites are doing all this without having a new sporting director in place and with no indications that an appointment is on the way.

Tottenham will not appoint a sporting director this summer
Tottenham CEO Vinai Venkatesham recently met with the Fan Advisory Board (FAB) to shed light on the club’s plans for this summer and beyond.
Journalist George Session has now brought to people’s attention what was said in the meeting minutes regarding the club’s search for a new sporting director.
Venkatesham insisted that many of the candidates being linked with the role have not even been spoken to and confirmed that Tottenham will not be appointing a new sporting director during the current window.
Sessions wrote on X: “It would seem Spurs’ sporting director search has been put on the back burner according to Vinai Venkatesham’s statement in the June Fan Advisory Board meeting. Also states new THFC director of football operations, Rafi Moersen’s role includes recruitment.”
Have Spurs given Roberto De Zerbi the keys to the castle?
It was reported back in April that Roberto De Zerbi has been handed an Alex Ferguson-type role at Tottenham, with the Italian being more than just the head coach.
It was suggested that he would have plenty of power in shaping the club’s long-term squad building, and we have seen evidence of that so far this summer.
While some Spurs fans will be pleased to see the 46-year-old calling the shots, there is always the risk that managers will make short-term decisions rather than long-term ones, especially with De Zerbi’s track record of not staying long at clubs.
