What would mark a successful season for Tottenham Hotspur?

Tottenham Hotspur have already surpassed expectation for this season, with many writing them off for even top four ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

After failing to sign a single new player in the summer, and with yet another round of stadium delays, you could forgive rivals for assuming Spurs wouldn’t be up to much.

However, Pochettino’s men would go on the prove their doubters wrong, enjoying their best ever start to a season.

After a brief spell in second place, Spurs are now sitting in third in the League.

The club have also already qualified for the round of 16 in the Champions League and the semi-final of the Carabao Cup in the new year.

But what would now mark a successful, but realistic, season for Tottenham?

I would say that Liverpool are going to be extremely tough to catch now, and Man City have a budget to play with that cannot be surpassed by Spurs.

Retaining another top three finish in the League would be good going considering the lack of funding, stadium delays, and injury crisis.

Where Spurs need to put the work in is the cups. In my opinion, Tottenham should be getting to the semi-finals of both domestic cups, and bringing home one of them this season.

Those players need the feeling of lifting a trophy to get rid of any pressure-fuelled jitters.

A quarter-final appearance in the Champions League would also be a big step for the club, and would show signs of improvement.
