Tottenham went into the game against Newcastle at Wembley knowing that a win will take them ahead of Manchester City into second place, and leave them just four points short of league leaders, Liverpool.
Pochettino opted to rest Fernando Llorente who scored Tottenham’s late winner against Watford and instead went with a front four of Lucas Moura, Son Heung-Min, Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen. While Spurs have had complete control of the game since kick-off, Newcastle have defended deep and the home side have found it hard to break them down.
Tottenham, however, have created a couple of great chances, with Lucas Moura putting his header off target from a few yards out with no pressure on him and Lamela seeing his header come off the post.
Spurs fans were pretty frustrated with the side’s failure to break the deadlock at half time. Here’s how some fans reacted on social media:
Why do we not cross the ball into the box like we are today when Llorente is on the pitch?

Whats going on with Eriksen?

Not assigning someone to track the opposition rightback's runs when you're playing a back four is incredibly dangerous. Yedlin has been the spare man at the back post numerous times. Needs rectifying at half time.

He's a classy player, but Eriksen has totally forgotten how to pass a ball further than 5f

How about bring on llorente. We always do this, loads of crosses when he doesn’t play? Makes no sense…

We are such a weird football club. Hardly cross when Llorente plays but when 3 circus dwarfs are up front we cross all day
