Tottenham Hotspur can rest easy this week knowing they will be involved in the next stage of the Carabao Cup, but when is the fourth round draw? And, more importantly, what teams could Spurs face next?

Carabao Cup fourth-round draw details

The draw for the Carabao Cup fourth round takes place on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.

It is scheduled to start at 10:15 pm BST, straight after the third-round tie between Liverpool and West Ham.

You’ll be able to watch the draw live on Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports Main Event, with coverage following that game directly.

Fourth-round matches are scheduled to take place in the week commencing October 28, spread across the Tuesday and Wednesday.

Who could Tottenham play in the next round?

Tottenham progressed to the fourth round in tense circumstances, beating Championship outfit Coventry City in the dying moments of their third-round tie.

A dour performance from Ange Postecoglou‘s men saw them fall behind just after the hour mark. The Lilywhites managed to stage a late comeback, with substitutes Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson striking in the 88th and 92nd minute to win the day.

So far, the other Premier League teams through to the next round of the Carabao Cup are Manchester United, Crystal Palace, Southampton, Brentford, and Brighton. They are joined by Championship outfits Stoke City, Preston North End, and Sheffield Wednesday.

There are still a number of games to come this week, though. On Tuesday, September 24, Chelsea take on Barrow, Manchester City host Watford, Walsall will play Leicester City, and Aston Villa travel to Wycombe Wanderers.

On Wednesday, the final games of the third round will be played. Arsenal host Bolton Wanderers, and Premier League sides Liverpool and West Ham will fight it out for the final spot in the next round.

Tottenham need to up their game

Spurs were firmly expected to brush aside Coventry City in the last round, and that didn’t quite happen. Despite resting the likes of Guglielmo Vicario, Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, and Heung-min Son, Tottenham should still have had enough to dominate lower-league teams.

Postecoglou is intent on winning a trophy with the Lilywhites this season, and the Carabao Cup is as good an opportunity as any. His fringe players will need to step up in the next round, or he may simply have to play a stronger lineup, which would be far from ideal as players need the rest.
