Manager hints at behind-the-scenes talks to sign in-form Tottenham winger

Daniel Farke has made an admission about Leeds United’s attempts to sign Manor Solomon permanently from Tottenham after the winger’s impressive impact on loan at the Championship side.

Solomon has become a bit of a forgotten man at Spurs, with his injury issues preventing him from getting any game time last season before he was shipped out on loan to Leeds last summer.

However, the winger has managed to get his career back on track at Elland Road, having put his injury woes behind him and contributing effectively in the final third.

The Israel international has 14 contributions in 27 Championship outings so far this season and looks set to fire Leeds back into the Premier League, with the Yorkshire club sitting five points clear at the top of the table.

Daniel Farke makes an admission about a move for Manor Solomon

It emerged earlier this week that Leeds and Everton could be involved in a transfer tussle to secure Manor Solomon when the transfer market opens in June.

The same update suggested that Tottenham are open to offloading Solomon, with the Lilywhites expected to demand £15m for his services.

However, Farke has now made it clear that his side will only make plans about a move for the winger and their other loan players once they have sealed promotion.

When asked about signing Solomon permanently, the Leeds boss told Yorkshire Evening Post: “I always like to be in the driver’s seat as a club but if you have a loan agreement you’re not in the driver’s seat, there are more or less three parties.

“It’s not our players, you have to totally respect they are with us, that’s great, we enjoy the time and then there is a time to speak about what the future might bring.

“It’s not during the season, especially during a crucial time. You sometimes start talks behind the scenes before the end of the season. It will be crucial for them and their mother clubs, where we will be next season. Before it’s confirmed it doesn’t make sense to make decisions. It will only be made when it’s confirmed in which league we will play.”

Solomon looks likely to leave Tottenham permanently

Unless Leeds have a major collapse over the next couple of months, it looks like they will be back in the Premier League next season.

One would thus expect them to push ahead with a move for Solomon, given how well he has done on the left in Farke’s system this season.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk man will likely prefer a switch to Leeds over other options like Everton, given the relationships he has forged with the coaching staff at Elland Road.
