Adi Hutter has been named as one of Tottenham Hotspur’s managerial candidates to replace Igor Tudor in the Spurs dugout. But who exactly is he?

Tottenham Hotspur’s latest 3-0 defeat at the hands of relegation rivals Nottingham Forest looks like it could well spell the end of Igor Tudor’s interim spell.

It is reported that a mutual parting of ways has been reached between Tottenham and Tudor, following a run of poor results and the passing of his father.

However, there has been no official confirmation as of now, but it is believed Spurs are working behind the scenes to secure a replacement for the Croatian.

Adi Hutter is one manager said to be under consideration for the Tottenham job alongside several others. But who is he, and what can Tottenham expect should he become manager?

What playing style would Adi Hutter bring to Tottenham?

Hutter’s tactical approach has drawn comparisons with Thomas Tuchel, Ralf Rangnick, and Jurgen Klopp. The Austrian outlined his philosophy upon his appointment at Monaco in 2023:

“I like for my teams to play aggressive football in a good way, to be proactive, with a clear idea of how to play,” Hutter said.

“This must go with the desire to have a conquering state of mind, to show character when you lose the ball, for example. It is important that everyone finds their place in this vision.”

He added: “In the end, it is me who makes the decisions, but I have to make everyone come together, all of these energies, towards the same objective. I also like to maintain a relationship with my players, to speak with them, because behind everyone there is a human being.

“So I want to create this link, because in the end it is the players who are on the pitch, not me. We must therefore do everything to ensure that they are all in the best condition.”

Tottenham fans can expect an aggressive, proactive style of football, built around clear structure and intensity both in and out of possession should he be appointed.

There is no record of him saying he supports Arsenal, who only recently lost the Carabao Cup.

However, he has previously praised the North London club – something that may not sit well with Spurs supporters, particularly given the backlash Thomas Frank received for often praising the Gunners.

It came after a 3-0 defeat, when Hutter praised Mikel Arteta’s side.

“I would say that it was important to see what separates us today from the best teams in Europe,” Hutter said.

“You mentioned Eliesse Ben Seghir and Maghnes Akliouche, and I think they delivered a very decent performance. They play beautiful football and I like that. Today they showed again that they are very talented.

“For their development, I think that this match at the Emirates Stadium was a good thing, against a top team in Europe.”
