Who is Bruno Fernandes? The 31-goal midfielder linked with Spurs

With Christian Eriksen recently admitting that is keen to take on a new challenge (Ekstra Bladet), Tottenham are reportedly looking for replacements for the Danish international this summer.

One player who has been linked with a move to Spurs is Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes (The Mirror).

The Portuguese international has had a stellar season for club and country and is said to be attracting interest from across Europe.

Here’s all you need to know about the prolific midfielder:

Full Name: Bruno Fernandes

Age: 24

Club: Sporting Lisbon

Nationality: Portugal

Position: Attacking midfielder/central midfielder

Playing Style: Fernandes likes to get on the ball and dictate the pace of the game. He is adept at picking up the ball from the defenders and picking out runners with threaded through balls. He is also quite dangerous when he gets into the final third as his shooting and crossing abilities are second to none.

Strengths: Passing, shooting, crossing, vision

Weaknesses: Physical strength

Highlights of His Career: While Fernandes was rated quite highly as a young player at Udinese and Sampdoria, it was only after his move to Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2017 that he started really impressing with his performances. The 24-year-old finished last season with an unbelievable tally of 31 goals in 50 competitions and helped Portugal to the UEFA Nations League win.

Rumour rating: B-

While Fernandes will no doubt improve the Tottenham squad, the fact that he is reportedly attracting interest from so many clubs including the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City (The Sun), means that he will probably cost a substantial amount this summer.

With Spurs seemingly keen to get Giovani Lo Celso in (The Mirror), it is unlikely that they will also be able to afford Fernandes.
