‘Who on earth?’ – Championship club owner rips into Harry Kane’s agent

Peterborough owner Darragh MacAnthony has ripped into Harry Kane’s representatives, questioning the wisdom in signing a six-year contract when the player was 25 years of age.

The Kane fiasco has dominated the headlines over the past week after the striker decided not to report back to Hotspur Way as expected on Monday.

Pep Guardiola has admitted he wants to bring the England captain to Manchester City but insisted there is nothing the Premier League champions can do if Spurs do not want to negotiate.

The situation took another turn on Friday evening as Kane broke his silence and claimed he had never refused to train.

The striker revealed he would be back at Hotspur Way today, which he insisted was always the plan.

There could potentially be more twists and turns to come in the transfer saga over the next few weeks but MacAnthony has questioned the wisdom in Kane’s decision to take on Daniel Levy.

The Peterborough chairman claimed Kane, who is represented by his brother Charlie, has been let down by his advisors.

He told Sky Sports: “Harry Kane is taking on Daniel Levy. But obviously, he has got advice on doing that and he probably feels it’s the right thing to do.

“I don’t like anyone taking that course of action, never mind the England captain. He’s a world-class player. But what was he doing signing a six-year contract in the first place? Who on earth?

“I would probably get in trouble with his agent here and never work with him ever again, if we ever do. But what are you doing signing a six-year contract that takes you up to the age of 30 or 31? You are not going to get a juicy contract after that.

“Going to Man City, it’s a given he’s going to win things. We saw Kyle Walker’s video the other day, it was brilliant.”

Kane has not only tarnished his image by his actions but he has also made it more difficult for himself to engineer a move away by antagonising Levy. I do feel a little sorry for the striker as it is clear that he has been poorly advised.
