Ange Postecoglou has confirmed why neither Heung-min Son nor Wilson Odobert made the trip to the Molineux Stadium for Tottenham’s 4-2 defeat to Wolves on Sunday.
With Spurs set to travel to Germany for the second leg of the Europa League quarterfinal against Eintracht Frankfurt, changes were always expected to be made to the side for the trip to Wolves.
In fact, Postecoglou himself had confirmed that he would rotate his squad, and that is exactly what he did.
Mathys Tel returned to the starting eleven to play alongside Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson in the front three, but it caused some concern among Spurs fans when Heung-min Son and Wilson Odobert were not spotted on the bench. Tottenham went on to lose the game 4-2 without their captain.

Ange Postecoglou explains Tottenham absentees against Wolves
However, Spurs fans can breathe easy about Son and Odobert ahead of Thursday night, with Postecoglou making it clear that the pair have been left in London as a precaution.
The Tottenham boss confirmed that the South Korean and the Frenchman will both be fit to make the trip to Frankfurt.
Ahead of kick-off against Wolves, Postecoglou told the media (via Football.London): “Sonny got a knock on his foot so just being a bit cautious with him. Wilson, like I said, we’re managing him at the moment. Both should be available for Thursday.”
Dejan Kulusevski is back for Spurs after nearly two months
One name that Tottenham fans would have been delighted to see back in the squad – despite the defeat – is Dejan Kulusevski, who has been out with a foot injury since late February.
Postecoglou had said on Friday that Kulusevski is unlikely to be ready to start the second leg against Frankfurt, but his return to the bench against Wolves will give Spurs fans hope that the Swede can play some part on Thursday.
