Former Tottenham midfielder Sandro Raniere is at a loss as to why Tim Sherwood has been so critical of Pedro Porro.
Like most young players who arrive in the Premier League, Porro had quite a steep learning curve and was found wanting defensively on a few occasions last season.
His debut against Leicester City was a match that the right-back would have wanted to forget quickly, with Sherwood saying about the newcomer at the time that he was “so bad it’s unbelievable” (talkSPORT).
However, the Spaniard has improved almost unrecognisably this season and has arguably been Tottenham’s most consistent performer this campaign.

Not only has his wand of a right foot been a major threat in the final third but the 24-year-old has also pocketed some of the best wingers across the Premier League, showcasing his excellent one-on-one defensive skills.
However, Sherwood is still far from convinced about Porro, telling Premier League Productions (15/01/24 at 5:50 pm) after Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against Man Utd that the former Sporting Lisbon man is a ‘poor defender’ that he will always ‘let you down’.
The full-back saw the funny side of the former Spurs interim boss’ comments, deciding to laugh at them on social media last week.
Sandro cannot believe Sherwood criticism of Porro
Sandro, who played under Sherwood during his six-month spell at the helm at White Hart Lane, is bewildered by his former boss’ criticism.
The former Tottenham midfielder said on The Fighting Cock Podcast about Porro: “I’m happy because I said to you [about Spurs signing Porro].
“I said he can go, he can attack but he needs to improve a little on the defending because the Premier League is difficult. You’ve got those wingers and strikers who can hit you.
“But the first game and Tim Sherwood said… ah why man? I don’t understand why. It’s his first game man, his first game!”

All one needs to say about Sherwood is that there is a reason why he cannot even get a management job in the EFL right now. Punditry suits him perfectly as the one thing he has always been good at is blowing hot air.
