Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Manor Solomon, who helped Fiorentina secure safety amid their relegation battle.

Many Tottenham Hotspur players in north London will never have imagined being embroiled in a relegation battle when they first signed for Spurs.

However, that has been the reality this season, with Tottenham fighting to avoid the drop to the Championship with just two Premier League games remaining.

Any slip-up at this stage of the campaign could prove pivotal in the survival race, with West Ham United breathing down Spurs’ necks as Tottenham hold only a two-point lead over the Hammers in 18th place.

This gameweek is set to be crucial for both sides, as a West Ham defeat combined with a Tottenham draw would see the Lilywhites secure safety before the final matchday of the season.

Manor Solomon helps Fiorentina avoid relegation

While Tottenham continue their battle in N17, one of their loan stars, Manor Solomon, has also been involved in a survival fight of his own this season.

Solomon is currently on loan at Serie A side Fiorentina, who were themselves battling to avoid relegation from the Italian top flight.

The Israeli international has certainly played his part, featuring in 17 matches while scoring two goals and registering one assist.

The winger has also had his fair share of injury problems, although since returning to fitness, he has worked his way back into the side and completed three consecutive 90-minute appearances following a hip flexor injury.

On Sunday, the 26-year-old again started on the left wing as Fiorentina secured their Serie A status for next season with a 0-0 draw at home against Genoa.

Tottenham loanee Manor Solomon now faces an uncertain future

Solomon will now return to Tottenham, hoping to fight for a place in north London under Roberto De Zerbi.

The pair previously worked together during De Zerbi’s spell at Shakhtar Donetsk in the 2021-22 season, and Solomon will hope that relationship can help revive his Spurs career after managing just six starts since joining Tottenham in 2023.

Spurs could still be relegated should West Ham outperform them over the final two matches of the season. If that happens, Solomon could prove a valuable asset in the Championship.

The Israeli international enjoyed an outstanding loan spell with Leeds United in the English second tier last season, scoring 10 goals and registering 13 assists in 41 appearances.
