Tottenham stole a point from Man City this weekend in a 2-2 draw with Dominic Solanke the hero of the hour.
Nobody backed Spurs to get anything from high-flying Man City, especially given the massive injury crisis affecting Thomas Frank’s squad.
With Tottenham going in at half-time 2-0 down, the odds of any kind of positive result for the Lilywhites were even bigger, but somehow, they got themselves back into the game.
That’s all thanks to Dominic Solanke, who was the star of the game for Spurs. His second goal rescued a point for Tottenham, but there’s a chance Micky van de Ven will have secretly hated it.

Two Tottenham goals could be nominated for Puskas Award
In the 70th minute at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Solanke pulled out a phenomenal scorpion kick to lift the ball over Gianluigi Donnarumma in the City goal.
That special goal was the talk of the weekend across the Premier League, and there’s every chance it could be in the conversation for monthly or even annual awards. If it does get nominated for the Puskas Award, we could well see two Spurs players go head-to-head for that prize.
Remember Micky van de Ven’s wonder goal against Copenhagen in the Champions League back in November of last year? The Dutch defender carried the ball over 67 metres from the edge of his own box, skipping past player after player before firing past the ‘keeper to make it 3-0.
There’s almost no doubt that his goal will be nominated for the Puskas. With both goals being so different, it’s hard to figure out who will win. Van de Ven will have surely thought the prize was his for the taking, until now.
Which goal was better: Micky van de Ven’s or Dominic Solanke’s?
For me personally, I’d say van de Ven’s goal was more impressive, just for the sheer nature of how far he had to travel and how many players he had to beat before scoring.
However, there’s a chance Heung-min Son’s Puskas-winning goal from 2020, which is eerily similar to van de Ven’s effort, might cost him this year.
Instead, Solanke’s goal, which is pretty unique, to say the least, could nab the award due to its originality. I don’t think many people could complain if he does win, that’s for sure.
