‘Why not?’ – Former Arsenal man thinks Gunners should sign Harry Kane

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has said that he would love to see Mikel Arteta’s side snap up Harry Kane but admitted that the move is highly unlikely.

Kane’s current contract at Tottenham has less than 18 months left to run and the speculation over the striker’s future seems to be intensifying as we get closer to the summer transfer window.

Manchester United and Bayern Munich are both said to be circling over the striker, who is expected to be available for £100m at the end of the season if he does not sign a new contract at Spurs (Telegraph).

However, reports over recent weeks have suggested that Tottenham remain hopeful that a deal can be agreed with the England captain to keep him at N17 for the rest of his career (Football Insider).

Frimpong has admitted that he would drive Kane to the Emirates himself if there was a possibility that the striker would move across the North London divide.

When asked what should Arsenal do if they had the unlikely opportunity to sign Kane, he told Midnite: “Should Arsenal sign Harry Kane? Why not? My interest is for Arsenal to win trophies and improve.

“I would not care if a player played for Tottenham or Chelsea, if he’s going to improve Arsenal and make us a better team, I will have Kane. I’ll go and drive him to Arsenal myself!

“Kane has been the best striker in the Premier League for the last four or five seasons and he seems like a top professional.

“Kane is one of my favourite players to watch, he’s been very loyal to Tottenham and I’d hope when the time comes, Tottenham will be loyal to him.

“I don’t think Daniel Levy would sell Kane to Arsenal and Tottenham fans would never forgive him, you’d make Arsenal a lot stronger and lose your best player.”

While all this pointless speculation about Kane’s future is annoying, at least we now know really know what opposition fans think of him as a player.

For years, Man Utd fans kept insisting that he was overrated but they changed their tune quite quickly when rumours emerged of their interest in signing the 29-year-old.
