Why Spurs decided to stay £70-a-night budget hotel before Man Utd game

According to a report in the Daily Mail, new Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho will shun a return to the five-star Lowry Hotel that he called home during his two and a half year stint as Manchester United manager and will instead stay with his side at the £70-a-night Crowne Plaza.

Crowne Plaza is at the heart of Manchester’s University area and is only a short distance away from Old Trafford.

The report claims that the Tottenham team booked the hotel to stay in last night in order to avoid pre-match traffic and make the journey to the stadium a short one.

Mourinho is said to have regularly complained about the midweek traffic problems when his team was travelling from the Lowry to the stadium during his time at Manchester United.

His United team bus reportedly once got stuck in traffic when they were travelling to Old Trafford for a Champions League match with Valencia and the club were subsequently £13,000 by UEFA.

The 56-year-old is said to be keen on avoiding any such issues when travelling to the stadium with his new team.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Manchester United have been quite inconsistent since the start of the campaign, they have performed admirably in almost all of the big games they’ve played. So Tottenham certainly can expect the home side to put in a tough fight later this evening. Hopefully, our firepower upfront proves too much for them to handle.
