Why Spurs fans should be supporting Qatar tonight in order to sign Lo Celso

Tottenham Hotspur have yet to sign anyone in the 2019 summer transfer window, or the past two transfer windows for that matter, but that hasn’t been through a lack of trying.

The BBC reported earlier this month that Spurs had bid a club record fee of £53m for Real Betis playmaker Giovani Lo Celso. The offer was rejected due to the player’s significantly higher £88m release clause.

It has been reported that a deal for Lo Celso in the near future is unlikely as the player is currently competing alongside Juan Foyth at the Copa America for Argentina (Football London).

However, Argentina face a pivotal crunch match tonight against Qatar, as they currently sit bottom of Group B, fighting it out with Qatar and Paraguay for the last remaining spot in the knockouts.

If Argentina drop points to Qatar tonight, the 23-year-old midfielder could be back home and available for a move far sooner than expected.
