Tottenham Hotspur have not just changed their strategy when it comes to new signings, but have also adopted a new tactic when it comes to selling players.
Luka Vuskovic, Alejo Veliz and Radu Dragusin have already left Spurs, as have two academy graduates, Alfie Devine and Tynan Thompson. Will Lankshear looks to be the next out the door, too.
According to reports, Cristian Romero, Lucas Bergvall, Richarlison, Djed Spence and Guglielmo Vicario could also leave Tottenham over the coming weeks.
Spurs have already rejected offers from Nottingham Forest and Newcastle for Bergvall, with the Magpies failing with a £46m bid for the Swede.
Tottenham are looking to become ‘more efficient’ in selling players
The Standard have revealed that Spurs are prepared to facilitate further player sales this summer to finance their rebuild under Roberto De Zerbi, and confirm that Bergvall could be among those sacrificed.
The report explains that while Tottenham are keen to keep the 20-year-old, the youngster has made it clear that he wants to leave as he does not expect to get minutes at N17.
It is revealed that one of the Spurs hierarchy’s goals this summer is to become ‘more efficient at selling players’ than they have been over recent years.
While departures are inevitable, it is made clear that Tottenham are in ‘no rush to sell’ Bergvall or any of the other players mentioned above.
The North Londoners will continue to demand what they see as ‘fair market value’ for these players and are open to moving them on for the right price.
What Spurs are thinking about Djed Spence
The Standard say that, like Bergvall, Tottenham would ‘ideally like to keep’ Spence at the club, despite the ongoing rumours about his future.
However, with his minutes likely to be ‘limited’ next season and with interest in his services building, the Lilywhites could make him available at the right price.
While the report does not mention what Tottenham’s valuation of the 25-year-old is, one would imagine that it has gone up after the full-back’s excellent World Cup campaign for England.
