Why Tottenham instantly have five extra players available for Burnley clash

Thomas Frank will be handed a massive boost ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Turf Moore as five more senior players will be back in action.

Tottenham were without 13 first-team players for their clash against Borussia Dortmund, making it difficult for Frank to even put 11 senior players on the pitch.

Xavi Simons had to play through pain against Dortmund, while the Spurs boss also had to resort to some unorthodox selection decisions, deciding to play Djed Spence as a left-winger.

To make matters worse, Lucas Bergvall was forced off with an injury in the second-half, with the Dane deciding to hand 17-year-old academy midfielder Jun’ai Byfield his senior Tottenham debut.

Tottenham will have five extra players available this weekend

Spurs will be in a much better situation when they travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley, with several senior men once again available for selection.

Micky van de Ven, who missed Tuesday’s game due to a suspension, will be expected to slot back into the club’s starting eleven.

Meanwhile, Radu Dragusin, Mathys Tel, Conor Gallagher, and Yves Bissouma, who were not part of Tottenham’s Champions League squad, can all be selected as the Lilywhites return to Premier League action.

Spurs fans are waiting for the fitness news on three midfielders

We are still waiting for an official update on Bergvall, who was forced off with an injury after being on the receiving end of a foul from Emre Can on Tuesday.

There is no clarity on when Joao Palhinha will return, with the Portugal midfielder missing the clashes against West Ham and Dortmund through injury.

Pape Sarr fell ill on the day of Senegal’s African Cup of Nations final win in Morocco, and it is unclear if the midfielder will recover in time to play a part against Burnley.
