Alasdair Gold has revealed whether Preston North End are expected to activate their option to buy Alfie Devine from Tottenham this summer after his impressive showing on loan.
The 21-year-old is currently having the best season of his senior career in what is his fourth different loan spell away from the club.
Devine struck a brilliant brace last week in Preston’s win over Stoke, taking his tally to eight goals in the Championship this term.
While Spurs fans would be excited by the attacking midfielder’s progress, there is no guarantee he will return to N17, as Preston have the option to buy the Tottenham youngster permanently this summer.

Why Preston are unlikely to sign Alfie Devine permanently from Tottenham
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has now revealed that Preston’s option to buy Devine is worth around £4.5m this summer.
While that seems like a bargain deal for a player who has done so well, Gold points out that the Championship’s record signing is only worth £2m.
They would have to pay two and a half times that fee to secure Devine, and there is another factor that might prevent the deal.
The journalist explains that the midfielder would have to greenlight the move to Deepdale for the clause to be activated, which he may not be inclined to do.
Devine is attracting interest from the Premier League
The Spurs academy graduate’s impressive displays in Lancashire this season have not gone unnoticed in the top flight.
According to reports, Devine has now emerged as a target for some Premier League sides ahead of the summer window.
However, a couple of days ago, the youngster made it clear that he retains the dream of becoming a first-team regular at Tottenham.
