Why Tottenham want to sign £50m Maghnes Akliouche after missing summer deal

Tottenham Hotspur may have settled on a Maghnes Akliouche decision due to one concern that Thomas Frank has.

Spurs are reportedly working on getting another signing through the door after securing deals for Conor Gallagher and Souza, with the club’s hierarchy keen to show ambition.

The supporters expect that a winger will be next on the agenda, but it is unclear who the club’s top target is.

It was previously reported that Tottenham have shortlisted seven wide-players across Europe and are prepared to be flexible depending on which deal proves feasible.

Tottenham set to prioritise deal for Maghnes Akliouche

Among those seven names was Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche, whom Spurs also explored a deal for in the summer window.

The Independent have now revealed that Tottenham are set to reignite their interest in the France international again over the coming days.

Akliouche is a slightly different profile to the other attackers on Spurs’ radar, as he is not only capable of playing on the right wing, but also as a number 10.

This is exactly why Tottenham are said to be keen on landing him, with Thomas Frank keen on adding another attacking midfield option to his squad to help supplement Xavi Simons.

Positive development in Spurs’ pursuit of Akliouche

This report from The Independent comes just a day after Alasdair Gold revealed that Spurs have watched the Monaco star closely this season.

Interestingly, he also revealed that Monaco are identifying alternatives to Akliouche as they fear losing their talisman, amidst the growing transfer interest.

According to some sources, the Ligue 1 side are expected to demand £50m for the Tottenham target.
