Why Trippier may now stay at Tottenham this summer

Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier did not enjoy his best season in a Lilywhite shirt last time out, despite reaching such highs for England in the 2018 World Cup.

As a result, Tripps has been linked with a move away from the North London club, with Napoli and Juventus said to be engaged in a £25m tug of war for the right-back (Daily Mail).

However, has Trippier’s fate now been sealed by another one of Tottenham’s first team right-backs?

Serge Aurier has been competing in the Africa Cup of Nations for the Ivory Coast over the past couple of weeks, but it looks as if his tournament is now over.

In a 1-0 loss to Morocco, Aurier was replaced 20 minutes before the end of the match after feeling a pull or a tear in his leg.

After that match, he admitted that it did not look great for him, calling into question whether he will be around to start pre-season for Spurs (Sport24).

Serge said: “I think it’s finished for me. I felt a pull or a tear. We’re going to do a test tomorrow (Saturday) and we’ll see. It’s not great.”

In my opinion, Pochettino will not want to sell Trippier if Aurier is stuck in the injury room, leaving just Kyle Walker-Peters as the only senior star.

Even if Spurs purchased a new first team right-back this summer, I still feel as if Poch will not want to leave himself short with just a newbie and an academy graduate.

What do you think? Will Poch sell Trippier even if Aurier is out for the long-term?
