‘Wide of the mark’ – Alasdair Gold plays down report that player is set for Spurs exit

Serge Aurier’s future at Tottenham Hotspur has been the subject of some speculation in recent weeks.

The right-back admitted in a recent interview with L’Equipe on Sunday that he does not plan on signing a new contract at Tottenham and will look to leave the club this summer.

The Ivory Coast international is within the last twelve months of his contract in North London and has made no secret of his desire to return to former club Paris Saint-Germain.

Journalist Rudy Galetti took to Twitter on Sunday to claim that Aurier was set to reunite with Mauricio Pochettino in the French capital in a €20m (£17.1m) deal.

Alasdair Gold has insisted that reports of Aurier heading back to PSG imminently are wide of the mark (Football.London).

Tottenham are prepared to grant the 28-year-old his wish and sanction his exit this summer.

It is a no brainer that Spurs should sell Aurier this summer, given the fact that he is not prepared to sign a new deal and the club need funds to reinvest back into new targets.

We need a reliable and defensively sound right-back, Aurier has proven to be a liability on a number of occasions.
