‘Will leave Tottenham’ – Journalist reveals Spurs star wants move to Italy

Italian journalist, Alfredo Pedulla has claimed that Erik Lamela will leave Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season as he is keen on a move back to Serie A.

Lamela has enjoyed a bit of a resurgence in form over the last few months but the Argentine has still been unable to get a regular run in Tottenham starting eleven.

Reports in the British press have previously revealed that Spurs have to sell players in order to buy this summer and that the former Roma man is one of those the club might cash in on.

Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claimed last week that the attacking midfielder has held talks with both AC Milan and Napoli over a potential summer.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold stated on Sunday that the North Londoners are ready to listen to offers for the 29-year-old.

Pedulla has now revealed that Lamela and his wife both want to return to Italy this summer after spending eight years in London.

The journalist is quoted by Area Napoli as saying: “The Argentine and his wife have the same desire: to return to Italy.

“Lamela, in all likelihood, at the end of the current football season, will leave Tottenham in search of a new experience.

“Of course the player would be oriented towards joining an important club.”

I would like to see Lamela stay as he has demonstrated that he can be a very useful squad player to have. He always has an impact on the game when he comes on from the bench and gives his all for the shirt.

However, we have to move some squad players on to raise funds and Lamela is one of our most sellable assets because of his reputation in Serie A.

So, with the Argentine set to run into the final 12 months of his contract, I would not be surprised if Tottenham cash in on him.
