Antonio Conte has taken to social media to post an emotional goodbye message to Gian Pierro Ventrone after the Tottenham fitness coach’s tragic passing.
Conte and Ventrone go back a long time, with the latter even serving as the former’s fitness coach during his playing days and working with him at Bari, Sienna and of course, Spurs.
The Tottenham head coach was visibly emotional during the minute of applause ahead of the kick-off at the Amex Stadium.
After the game, Conte admitted in his press conference that the news came as a shock to everyone and that he had only spoken to Ventrone last Thursday (Football.London).
The Italian remarked that the experienced fitness coach had touched everyone at Spurs in the just over ten months he spent at the club.
After Ventrone’s funeral in Naples on Sunday, Conte took to Instagram to post a picture of them together from this pre-season, along with the caption that translates as: “See you later Gian Pierro. I will miss you”.

It is hard to overestimate how much Ventrone’s sudden passing would have affected Conte, given how far the pair go back. It was nice to hear the Spurs fans constantly signing the 53-year-old’s name at the Amex Stadium on Saturday to offer him emotional support during this difficult time.
