‘Will try’ – Journalist provides update on Giovani Lo Celso and Villarreal links

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Villarreal will attempt to sign Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, but the move will depend on other deals materialising alongside it.

Tottenham are said to have shortlisted Lo Celso as one of the players to offload ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline in order to clear space for potential incomings (Evening Standard).

L’Equipe reported on Friday that Lyon had emerged as a prime suitor to sign the 25-year-old on loan this month, however, he rejected the proposal on Saturday (RMC Sport – Loic Tanzi).

Now, Villarreal are waiting in the wings to secure a potential deal for Lo Celso, according to Romano, although there are some caveats to contend with.

The transfer guru has claimed that while Lo Celso is keen on making the move back to La Liga, where he enjoyed a two-year stint with Real Betis, the process will depend on other moves happening along the way.

Fabrizio Romano previously reported that Giovani Lo Celso was hoping to secure a move to Villarreal after rejecting Lyon.

Spurs are lucky that they have another club interested in taking Lo Celso otherwise it would have been a tricky situation to manage. He likely will have known that Villarreal were interested, though, so a move back to Spain was always going to be his preferred choice in this scenario.
