William Gallas claims Spurs will ’cause problems’ next season in top four prediction

Former Tottenham defender William Gallas believes that while Antonio Conte’s men will be a force next season, he does not think they are capable of challenging for the Premier League title.

Spurs have been one of the busiest clubs in the transfer window so far, with Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison and Clement Lenglet arriving through the door.

If reports are to be believed, more additions are expected to follow before the window slams shut (Alasdair Gold).

Tottenham fans are understandably excited about what the club can achieve in their first full season under Conte, particularly given the strong finish the Lilywhites had to the 2021/22 campaign.

Gallas believes that the North Londoners will make it hard for some of the big sides next season.

He told Genting Casino (as relayed by The Metro): “I think they can cause trouble to the big clubs. They will cause problems as they will be very strong this season, especially with the mentality of Antonio Conte.”

However, the Frenchman does not think Spurs have enough to challenge the likes of Manchester City and suggested that the best they can hope for is to qualify for the Champions League again.

When asked to predict his top four, he said: “I don’t want to, but I have to put [Manchester] City because they look like they are going to be very strong. So City, Chelsea, Liverpool definitely. Then the same problem, Arsenal or Tottenham, I don’t know.”

Gallas was confident that one side will not be able to challenge for Champions League qualification. He added: “Manchester United? I don’t think so, no.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Given that we finished just one point behind Chelsea last season, I would back us to clinch third ahead of the Blues next season. However, I do not think we will have quite enough to compete with the top two, who I expect to get over 90 points again next season.
