Willian comments on Chelsea future amid rumoured Spurs interest

Willian has further fuelled speculation linking him with a move to Spurs this summer by revealing that it might not be possible for him to stay at Chelsea.

There has been a considerable amount of speculation over Willian’s future over the last couple of months, with several contradictory claims behind made in various publications.

Tottenham were initially installed as the front runners for the Brazilian’s signature (Mundo Deportivo) with reports indicating at one point that the move was practically a done deal (beIN SPORTS presenter Richard Keys).

The Brazilian has since denied that he has already agreed on a deal to move to Spurs in the summer (Gustavo Hofman’s Youtube channel).

While some reports have indicated that talks between the winger and Chelsea over a new deal were dead in the water (Football.London), there have been suggestions recently that a renewal is still not entirely out of the question for the long-serving wide man (Football Insider).

However, Willian has now revealed that Chelsea are not going to change their contract offer and he is unlikely to stay at the club next season.

The former Anzhi Makhachkala man told The Sun: “It’s a difficult situation, Chelsea offered me two years and they are not going to change.

“I don’t know if it will be possible to stay. My goal is to continue working and focus on the remainder of the season, so that Chelsea can continue winning games.

“I have a clear head and I’m focused for the rest of the season that we have left. Let’s see what happens.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If Willian does not extend his stay at Chelsea, I cannot see Mourinho not wanting him at Spurs given the pair’s relationship. We are likely going to go for one of either Willian or Ryan Fraser this summer and I believe the Brazilian is likely to be Jose’s priority.
