Willian’s former boss reveals which club the midfielder should leave Chelsea for

Willian’s former manager at Shakhtar Donetsk, Mircea Lucescu has urged the midfielder to quit Chelsea this summer.

Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian, who has already admitted that talks over a contract extension with Chelsea have ground to a halt with the Blues unwilling to offer him a three-year contract (Gazeta Esportiva).

The Lilywhites are reportedly ready to move early this summer and offer him a bumper pay rise to land him a free agent.

Football Insider have claimed that Newcastle United could try and hijack the deal should their takeover go ahead with a plan to make a major investment in the transfer market.

Juventus are also said to be interested in snapping up the 31-year-old (Daily Mail) with Lucescu believing the Willian should make the switch to the Serie A champions.

When asked if he would recommend a switch to Juve for the winger he managed during his time in Ukraine, Lucescu told TuttoJuve.com (as relayed by Sport Witness): “Absolutely yes, I would be very happy if Willian had to choose Juventus. It would be exceptional to see him wearing that shirt.

“He has been at Chelsea for many years and perhaps it would be time to change. The London club fell in love with his performances when they faced us in the Champions League.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Free agents will be heavily sought after this summer due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic which could make it more difficult to land Willian. However, we do have an advantage over the likes of Juve and Newcastle due to the relationship that the winger has with Mourinho. Hopefully, that will work to our advantage as I believe he will be an excellent addition to the squad.
