Winger’s agent reveals his client snubbed a loan move to Tottenham

Kvicha Kvaratskhelia’s agent, Mamuka Dzhugeli, has claimed that his client snubbed the chance to join Tottenham Hotspur on loan.

Kvaratskhelia has arguably been the most exciting attacking talent in Russian football over the last few years.

The winger terminated his contract with Ruben Kazan following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and signed a deal with Georgian club Dinamo Batumi (Il Mattino).

Spurs were credited with an interest in the 21-year-old last year (Sport Business) and Antonio Conte’s men were backed to reignite their interest in the wide-man this summer (Gazzetta dello Sport).

However, it was Napoli who acted swiftly to snap up Kvaratskhelia, with the Georgian international penning a five-year contract with the Serie A club back in April.

Dzhugeli has now revealed that Fabio Paratici tried to take the winger to Juventus in the past and also attempted to sign him for Spurs after he joined the North London club.

He explained that Kvaratskhelia was not keen on making a loan move, which is why he chose to move to Naples instead.

The youngster’s agent told Nobel Arustamyan’s YouTube channel: “Khvicha had a preliminary contract with Juventus, but the club’s sports director Fabio Paratici left.

“If Fabio hadn’t left Juventus, Khvicha would have moved there. After Paratici left for Tottenham, they wanted to sign Kvicha on loan but we did not agree. The player himself was against the loan.”

Paratici’s modus operandi with young talents is to usually sign them permanently and then loan them back out. If the Spurs managing director only wanted to sign Kvaratskhelia on loan, that suggests that he was not 100 per cent convinced about the winger.
