‘Without symptoms’ – Reguilon issues COVID update and when he hopes to return

Sergio Reguilon has said that he hopes to be back playing soon after missing out on Tottenham’s win over Manchester City.

The 25-year-old was left out of the Spurs squad for Saturday evening’s encounter at the Etihad Stadium, with his absence confirmed on Twitter due to COVID-related reasons.

As such, Ryan Sessegnon retained his place at left wing-back and helped Tottenham secure a late and stunning 3-2 win over Premier League leaders City.

Reguilon has now updated fans that he is not currently experiencing any symptoms and hopes to return to the squad soon to continue the fight for top four.

He said on his Instagram story (20/02/22): “I am without symptoms of Covid. I hope to be back soon, thank you very much for the messages.”

Tottenham’s last-gasp victory at City has kept them in the dogfight for a Champions League place at the end of term.

Antonio Conte’s side remain in eighth-place in the table, but a win at Burnley on Wednesday evening would see them close the gap to Manchester United down to four points.

It is good to see Reguilon not experiencing any COVID symptoms so hopefully he’ll be able to get back into contention soon. The Burnley fixture in midweek will likely come a bit too soon for him, though, so next Saturday’s clash at Leeds should be a target.
