Tottenham Hotspur booked their place in the last sixteen of the Europa League yesterday evening with a comfortable victory against Wolfsberger.
Goals from Dele Alli, Gareth Bale and a brace from Carlos Vinicius secured a 4-0 win on the night to complete an emphatic 8-1 aggregate scoreline.
The Austrian side showed their class after the match when they took to Twitter to thank Tottenham for the experience of facing off against them while also making the claim that Jose Mourinho’s side will go on to lift the trophy.
It is the first time since the 2015-16 campaign that Spurs are into the final sixteen when they were eliminated by Thomas Tuchel’s Borussia Dortmund.
Here is what the official Wolfsberger account had to say yesterday evening:
Thanks @SpursOfficial for this experience and good luck in the next @EuropaLeague games – you will win this competition, so we knocked out by the #UEL-winner 😜✊🏻 https://t.co/jvIIyyW59y pic.twitter.com/SlQrq3sRRj

Winning the Europa League this season could potentially represent the club’s only hopes of securing Champions League football given the awful run of form in the Premier League over recent weeks.
