Wolves boss makes claim about Adama Traore future amid Spurs links

Bruno Lage has claimed that rumoured Tottenham target Adama Traore would be happy to remain at Wolves this summer.

Tottenham are expected to sign an attacker if Bryan Gil returns to Valencia on loan (The Athletic), and the Spaniard is now reportedly close to sealing a move to the Mestalla (Cadena SER).

One of the names who has been mooted as a potential replacement for the 21-year-old is Traore, with Alasdair Gold stating earlier this week that a late move for the Wolves winger is on the cards for Spurs as Fabio Paratici is a big fan of the player (Football.London).

The Daily Express subsequently revealed on Wednesday that Tottenham are continuing to monitor the Spaniard and that the North London club view the pacy wide-man as a cut-price option since he is into the final year of his contract at Wolves.

Traore found the back of the net for the West Midlands club in their 2-1 Carabao Cup win over Preston North End this week and Lage has suggested that the 26-year-old’s performances prove his commitment to Wolves.

When asked if Traore is settled at Molineux, the Wolves boss told The Independent: “You can see that by the way he is training and playing. I can see that every day. When I look back in January, it was an important moment.

“We accepted the decision to go to Barcelona because it’s his team and now he is with us. I’m happy with him and the signals he has given to me and within the games show he’s happy with us.

“We want players who can give us different dynamics. We understand what he can give us.”

Spurs Web Opinion

One would assume that Wolves would be open to cashing in on Traore if they receive a bid for him before the transfer window closes unless they are confident that the winger will sign a new contract.

The 26-year-old seems to divide opinion among Spurs fans and I firmly belong to the pro-Traore camp. I believe that he would be a very useful weapon to have on the bench, given his ability to carry the ball.

The question is whether he would be content with a bit-part role at Tottenham, particularly after his struggles at Barcelona in the second half of last season.
