Woodgate snubs loan move to fight for Spurs place

Tottenham defender Jonathan Woodgate has turned down a loan move to Wolves.

Wolves boss McCarthy confirmed on Friday that they had made a genuine attempt to take the former Leeds, Newcastle and Real Madrird man on loan.

But Spurs have got back to McCarthy to confirm that Woodgate, who is out of contract in the summer, wants to stay at Spurs to fight for his place and try to earn a new contract at White Hart Lane.

The deal did not get as far as McCarthy speaking to Woodgate but the Wolves boss admitted he would have relished the opportunity to persuade him to make a short-term move to Molineux.

  1. What is wrong with Harry he buys Pienaar who is just the same has what we have and in some cases not has good has we already have . Poor Woodgate has travelled all over the world to find a cure and when it looks like he may have found one Harry wants him to go on loan . Why would he go on loan when we are in the champs league is Harry losing the plot i thought he was doing a good job but lately he is slipping badly off and on the pitch . I watched Adel Taarabt and he was superb and it was a Tottenham goal through and through a great pass from the wing with the outside of his boot and Routelege finished it superbly one of Harrys not good enough Bentley Prince Botang he is selling talent and buying pensioners in there twilight. If you sell talent you buy better Taarabt is younger and more skilful than Pienaar he just needed a chance but Harry is more concerned with one last year till he leaves for Englands job and we will be left with a team not evolving but ageing.

  2. Oh shut up you muppet… your drivel is boring.
He's cleared out so much deadwood you can hardly complain about a few players.
Pienaar was an astute buy and I know for a fact that he'll be your favourite player next month when he starts banging in the goals. Routledge is toilet and Taarabt is a luxury we don't need when we have Rafa and Modric.
