Brazil legend Cafu has raved about Richarlison, revealing that the Tottenham man is one of the standout players in training.

Brazil have sealed qualification to the knockout stages of the World Cup, having beaten Serbia 2-0 in their opening game before edging out Switzerland 1-0 on Monday.

Richarlison led the line impressively for Tite’s men in both matches, with the 25-year-old netting both goals in the win over Serbia. The forward has come in for plenty of praise from the Brazilian press in light of his performances (Jogada 10)  but some pundits still appear unconvinced by him.

Former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley insisted a few days ago that despite Richarlison’s showing against Serbia, he would take Gabriel Jesus over the Tottenham star ‘every day’ (ESPN FC) while Antonio Cassano described the former Everton man as ‘terrible’ and claimed he ‘doesn’t know how to control the ball’ (Bobo TV).

However, Cafu, who was part of two World Cup-winning sides with Brazil, disagrees with that assessment, with the 52-year-old sharing what he saw from the forward in training.

Speaking about Richarlison’s second goal against Serbia, the former right-back told TuttoMercatoWeb: “It was technically wonderful. Richarlison is really strong, he does splendid things in training too. That goal wasn’t a coincidence.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is safe to say that Richarlison will put a lot more weight into the opinion of a former Brazilian World Cup-winning captain than the opinion of Burley or Cassano, who are just paid to say controversial things on TV.  The Tottenham man is certainly highly appreciated by his teammates and seems to be loved by the fans back in Brazil.
