Worrying Tottenham stat shows why Ange Postecoglou might be in trouble

Tottenham Hotspur are on course to achieving a club record which makes for extremely sorry reading for Ange Postecoglou as the speculation over the Spurs boss’ future continues.

The feeling around Tottenham Hotspur and the disconnect between the team and the fan base was encapsulated by the ugly scenes which followed the final whistle against Fulham.

Just before heading back into the tunnel, Ange Postecoglou was seen getting into a heated debate with a Spurs fan and had to be pulled away by a couple of his players.

The incident also shows the pressure that the Australian coach is under, with Tottenham having more than a 50 per cent loss record in the Premier League this season.

Worrying stat signals bad news for Ange Postecoglou

Spurs’ defeat in Craven Cottage was their 15th loss of the season in just 29 league matches, which already equals the fourth most defeats in a single season for the club in Premier League history, according to talkSPORT.

The North London club are currently on course to create a club record, having previously not lost more than 19 league games in a single season.

That happened on two occasions: the 1993-94 season and the 2003-04 season, with Tottenham finishing 15h and 14th respectively in those two campaigns.

Tottenham have begun work on finding a potential Postecolgou replacement

This stat does not make for nice reading for the Tottenham boss, particularly as reports indicate that Spurs have identified potential replacements for Postecoglou ahead of the summer.

It has even been claimed by some sources that Tottenham have already reached out to Andoni Iraola regarding a switch to N17 in the summer.

Unless the 59-year-old manages to arrest the team’s slide down the table and does something special in the Europa League, it looks like he might struggle to be in charge at the start of next season.
