There have been multiple reports in the past couple of weeks including Sky Sports and the Daily Mail linking Tottenham Hotspur with a move for Brighton defender Ben White, who is currently on a season-long loan spell at Leeds United.
White has been a mainstay in the heart of Leeds’ defence this season and has been a crucial part of the impressive defensive record that Marcelo Bielsa’s men boast of.
His performance for the Championship leaders has reportedly attracted the interest of a number of Premier League clubs including Chelsea and Liverpool.
However, some Spurs fans on social media called for the club to move quickly ahead of the competition to land the 22-year-old.
Spurs have had defensive issues since the start of the campaign and those have persisted under Jose Mourinho as well.
Some Spurs fans believed that signing White could help address some of the problems the team has been having lately:

Putting this out there – ben white, is an absolute Rolls Royce defender. He's currently on loan at leeds, from Brighton and more than held his own against the scum tonight. This boy is special. We should be all over this deal. @SpursOfficial #COYS #benwhite

Ben White and Kalvin Phillips, two players I’d love to see at Spurs

Why would Brighton let him go? If anything he’ll get recalled before the end of the season. Quality player though

Spurs Web Opinion
Despite Alderweireld committing his future to the club, it is clear that we still need to add one centre half to the squad either in January or in the summer. However, I would prefer the club to sign an experienced defender who is proven at the top level rather than someone for the future like White. With people like Sanchez, Foyth and Tanganga already at the club, I am not sure we need to bring in another young centre half.
