Some Tottenham fans are excited to hear that the club are once again being linked with a move for Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo.
Reports suggested that the 21-year-old was on Tottenham’s radar last summer but the midfielder ended up staying put at the Stadio Olimpico (Mirror).
While it has been an injury-ravaged season for the Italy international, he has done his reputation no harm during his time on the pitch.
Zaniolo is considered by many to be one of the Serie A’s biggest rising talents and it is perhaps not surprising that several clubs, including Spurs, have had their eye on him for a while (Leggo).
However, journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Giallorossi do not want to sell Zaniolo this summer.
Some Spurs fans believe that Zaniolo would be a big upgrade over Lamela and suggested using the Argentine in a player plus cash deal to sign the Roma star.
However, others doubted that the club could afford to sign Zaniolo under the current financial climate.
Selling Dele and Lamela to bring in Grealish and Zaniolo would be big club business. Shame we don’t act like one.

Quality player but we’re linked to him every season

Good player but don’t need him. Would rather spend money on positions we need to strengthen

I would love Nicolo Zaniolo at Spurs. Who was the last Italian player we had? Cudicini? 🇮🇹

I would offer them Lamela for Zaniolo 🤷♂️

Spurs Web Opinion
Jose seems to like Lamela and I believe the Argentine could be an excellent squad option for us next season. If the five substitute rule is going to stay, he could be very handy off the bench as he impacts games with his intensity. Given that there are other clear gaping holes in the squad, I doubt Jose would be in a hurry to bring in another attacking midfielder, with Lamela, Dele Alli and Giovani Lo Celso already at his disposal.
