“Would he be immediately furloughed?” – Some fans play down chance of star joining Spurs

Some Tottenham fans on social media have completely dismissed rumours linking the North London club with a move for Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho after claiming there is no way Daniel Levy will meet Barcelona’s asking price.

Coutinho has spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Bayern Munich, but reports suggest that the Bundesliga giants are not keen on taking up the option to sign him permanently in the summer (Mirror).

Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian in recent weeks and his agent Kia Joorabchian has admitted that the prospect of returning to the Premier League is very appealing for the former Liverpool star (Sky Sports).

However, some Spurs fans do not believe the club will spend the kind of money it will take to bring him to North London.

On the back of Daniel Levy’s decision to cut wages of their non-playing staff by 20% for April and May, they questioned if the Spurs chairman will be prepared to spend big in the transfer market.

I am much more optimistic with regards to this transfer than these fans as I believe we are missing a player of his profile in the squad. I don’t believe we are likely to complete a permanent transfer but a loan deal is very much a possibility given Barcelona’s desperation to get him off their wage bill.
