Some Spurs fans are excited to see rumours surface once again linking the club with a potential move to RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer, with many believing that he could be an ideal replacement for Dele Alli.
The Austrian international has been one of the most consistent performers in Julian Nagelsmann’s side in recent times.
He has not only shown tremendous versatility by being deployed in various positions across the midfield and frontline but has also displayed a tremendous knack of scoring important goals, as Tottenham found out to their detriment in the Champions League round of 16 tie last season.
The former Rapid Wien player was rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar in the summer but he ended up staying put at the Red Bull Arena.
SportBILD (as relayed by Sport Witness), recently claimed earlier this week that this could be the midfielder’s last season at Leipzig since he is unlikely to pen a new contract, with Tottenham holding a keen interest in bringing him to England.
While some saw the 26-year-old as the ideal upgrade for Alli, a few questioned if Sabitzer is what Tottenham need, given the weaknesses in other areas that need to be addressed:
Would love this! Sell up dele, and get this fella in! Proper 👍🏻

Yeah 100% he will start for us together with Tanguy and Højbjerg

He can play almost everywhere on the pitch. We could definitely use his services. Could play in place of Sissoko or in a more advanced role, like #10.

If Dele Alli doesn't regain form then 100% loan or sell him to get Sabitzer in

Sabitzer is one of my favourite players in Europe. The depth it would provide would be insane but also 100% mean the end for Dele at Spurs I think

He’s a good player, him Pierre and tanguy could be insane. But I think defence needs to be a big focus aswell we need depth and solidity in our defence before we add to our already overly large midfield

Who would you say Sabitzer would replace in our current 1st XI I’m never quite sure where he plays ? 🤔
