Some Spurs fans on social media are excited by reports suggesting that Real Madrid have offered striker Luka Jovic to Tottenham.
Real Madrid paid in excess of £50 million (Independent) to sign Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer after the German international enjoyed a prolific season in the Bundesliga.
However, the forward has failed to hit the expected heights in Spain this season, having found the net just twice for Los Blancos (transfermarkt).
A recent report by the Mirror claimed that Madrid are keen to offload the 22-year-old when the transfer market reopens in the summer. This comes after his relationship with the club took a hit when the striker refused to self-isolate as told this month.
While some Spurs fans urged the club to do everything they can to sign the talented striker, others wondered if the club could afford him without letting Harry Kane leave.
Here’s how fans reacted to the report linking the Real Madrid forward with a move to North London:
Very good player I would take him in a heartbeat but it would mean having two strikers in our first team squad and that’s forbidden unfortunately!

Spurs should be going for top striker names rather than short term options. No top club has one out and out striker. Luka Jovic and Timo Werner are obvious players we should be targeting.

I am incredibly skeptical that the Jovic to Spurs story is really even a story given the source, but to indulge if Spurs can sign Jovic then they absolutely should.

I will actually be amazed if this happens

I beg the club to sign him

Tottenham Hotspur will be offered the chance to sign Real Madrid forward, Luka Jovic.
Luka would be decent cover for Harry Kane or even play up with him,
A new striker addition is 100% needed ✍👍 pic.twitter.com/UkwZSThbvi

Really good backup and can break into starting xi
They offered Jovic to us in Jan too but didn’t accept loan so now when they want to get rid of him we could get him for like 40m

Luka Jovic is a player Jose Mourinho added to his list but only if Kane leaves which is impossible .

Surely this makes sense
Harry Kane is Benzema’s replacement
They give us 100m and Jovic
We have 100m to help rebuild while also getting a excellent striker profile for Jose

Him and Giroud in the summer to add to our striker depth and I'll be a very happy man. Jovic is young and can play in a two with Kane and Giroud offers a different dimension to our team, one that we haven't had since Llorente left #THFC https://t.co/ctEsI51Y9J

Spurs Web Opinion
Jovic has age on his side and he is one of the few strikers we’ve been linked with who can play alongside Harry Kane. While I would be over the moon if we signed him, I just cannot see Real Madrid allowing him to leave on a permanent basis just a season after signing him.
