‘Would win the PL’ – Carragher laughs off Neville’s claim about Spurs star

Jamie Carragher has mocked Gary Neville’s suggestion that Tottenham striker Harry Kane would help Manchester United to win the Premier League.

The former Red Devils defender previously suggested that United signing the England captain alongside Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho would put the club in strong contention for the title.

While United completed the signings of the latter two in the summer, Kane was busy being chased by their inter-city rivals Manchester City – though a move never materialised due to disputes over his valuation.

Neville was pressed again on which player he would sign for United, before Carragher jumped in and reminded him of his previous choice of Kane alongside the Spurs striker’s seemingly wayward scoring form this season.

Carragher said on Sky Sports: “Well, he said if they signed Harry Kane, Varane and Sancho that they would win the Premier League.

“So, it [Neville’s choice] has to be Harry Kane, hasn’t it?”

Neville, taken aback by Carragher’s suggestion, then joked that he would sign Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva despite leaving him out of his current Premier League Team of the Season.

Spurs Web Opinion

We won’t know if Kane will have had better statistics at another side like Man City for example, but United seem to be having problems of their own like Spurs have had this season. If they signed him it wouldn’t be a given that he would instantly improve their title hopes, as they have other problems in their squad to deal with.
