Xavi Simons could not have asked for a better start to life at Tottenham, as the new signing assisted on his Premier League debut and played a key role in a statement victory for Thomas Frank’s side.
Thomas Frank’s side bounced back after their 1-0 defeat against Bournemouth in matchweek three of the Premier League in emphatic fashion, beating West Ham United 3-0 at the London Stadium.
That victory marked Frank’s seventh win against the Hammers in nine outings so far in his career, and it has Tottenham sitting in second place in the Premier League table.
New signing Xavi Simons also made his Tottenham debut, immediately making his mark as he assisted the opening goal for Spurs against the Hammers and helped dictate the attacking play.

Xavi Simons opens up on Tottenham debut
Following the fixture, Xavi Simons reflected on his debut and shared what his focus will be at Tottenham as the season develops.
Speaking to the club’s official channel, Simons made it clear how delighted he was to make an instant impact. He said: “Yeah really happy with the win, especially and cannot be better.”
He also spoke on how he has been adjusting to life at Tottenham and adapting to the style of play under Thomas Frank, explaining: “Yeah, obviously for me it is my first week here coming into a new team, trying to adapt as quick as possible to the system and the way they play and especially the way they find each other.
“So yeah what do I say, trying to feel that I think it went really good and obviously things can go better.”
When asked about his position on the left, Simons revealed the instructions he was given at the break and how the second half unfolded. “That was the clear message from the coach at halftime, we were trying to dominate and create chances.
“Obviously they have good quality as well and in the second half try to start as good as possible and that is how it went so really happy about that.”
Tottenham star already looking ahead
Simons is not getting carried away with the bright start and was quick to stress his desire to contribute more to the team in the coming weeks.
He continued: “Yeah I am really happy to everything started right now. Trying to bring my football into the team trying to help the team with goals assists and win things that is the most important thing.”
With Champions League football around the corner, he also made it clear that his focus is already on the next test. “Champions League next so now recover good and we go for the next game,” he added.
