Xavi Simons has big aims for the Tottenham number 7 shirt after meeting Heung-min Son

Xavi Simons has revealed his future Tottenham Hotspur ambitions after meeting Heung-min Son for the very first time.

Tottenham Hotspur recorded a 3-0 triumph in the Champions League against Slavia Prague and Xavi Simons was one of the club’s standout players.

The 22-year-old drew a foul in the penalty box and converted his spot kick, preventing the visitors from having any chance of making a comeback.

The night got even better for Simons, as he was able to meet Tottenham legend Heung-min Son after the match.

Xavi Simons hopes to build his own Tottenham legacy

Very few players can say they contributed as much to Spurs as Son did during the 10 years he spent in North London.

Simons was able to talk with the former Spurs captain last night and he has revealed his own ambitions at the club, as he wears Son’s famous number seven jersey.

Speaking after the match, Simons said: “I didn’t meet him personally [when joining Tottenham], now I have a little bit.

“He is a big legend of the club, and it is a pleasure for me to take this number and build upon my own legacy. I was really happy to meet him, we spoke a little bit.”

Simons has the chance to become as good as Son

Son in his prime was a world class talent and measuring up to his standards will be no easy feat. However, Simons arrived at Tottenham a year younger than Son was and he is already more well known than the Korean was at the time of his move from Bayer Leverkusen.

The Netherlands international is showing promising signs already and although he does not play in the same position as Son, he could be the player to transform the Spurs attack in years to come.
