Xavi Simons posts photo of injury he played through against Dortmund, and it looks painful

Tottenham Hotspur fans will love what Xavi Simons has just revealed after he helped the Lilywhites overcome Borussia Dortmund 2-0 on Tuesday.

Spurs had just over 11 senior players fit for the Dortmund clash, with the squad ravaged by a major injury crisis.

That meant that Dominic Solanke and Destiny Udogie had to be named in the starting line-up on their return from injuries, while 17-year-old Jun’ai Byfield was handed his senior Tottenham debut, replacing the injured Lucas Bergvall on 63 minutes.

It has now been confirmed that another Spurs star, who was one of the best players on the pitch on Tuesday, played through injury.

Xavi Simons posts picture of his foot after Tottenham’s win over Borussia Dortmund

Ahead of the clash against Dortmund, Xavi Simons admitted that he is ready to play through pain after suffering an injury to his foot against West Ham.

The Dutchman delivered one of his best performances of the season against Dortmund, with almost every single Tottenham attack going through him.

After the 2-0, Xavi shared an image on social media, showing just how bad his foot was, and the 22-year-old added the caption: “I failed more times than you tried.”

Xavi showed his leadership qualities for Spurs

The Dutchman showed his character and his elite mentality in a night where Tottenham desperately needed him to step up.

Xavi demanded the ball all game and played with the kind of intensity and confidence that we saw from him very often in an RB Leipzig shirt.

One certainly would not have guessed from the 22-year-old’s performance just how bad his foot was as he covered as much ground as any other player on the pitch and was flying into tackles all game.
