‘Years of struggle’ – Richarlison reacts on social media after dream CL debut

Richarlison reacted emotionally on social media after scoring a brace in his Champions League debut against Marseille on Wednesday.

Richarlison was arguably Spurs’ best player on the pitch in the 2-1 win over Fulham over the weekend and the forward was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet against the Cottagers as he saw an effort come off the post and a goal ruled out for offside.

He deservedly kept his place in the starting lineup for the clash against Marseille and his quickfire brace in the second half helped Antonio Conte’s men get their campaign off the winning start.

After picking up the Man of the Match award for his display, the former Everton man expressed his delight to Spurs TV.

Richarlison also took to social media to admit that he has waited a long time to experience a night like the one on Wednesday.

He wrote: “You don’t know how much I’ve waited for this.”

After the final whistle, the forward was seen sharing an emotional moment with both of his parents, who were in the stands.

Richarlison tweeted a video of him embracing his mom and dad, along with the caption: “It was years of struggle, and you were always by my side. I just need to thank you for not giving up on me and my dream. Today, having you here, made the moment even more exciting for me. We continue together for even bigger dreams to come! Thanks Dad!”
