Pochettino on whether new stadium will be ready for Champions League

Tottenham fans may be a little apprehensive to believe Pochettino when he claims the stadium should be ready to host the Champions League quarter finals.

After all, the fans have been given multiple probably opening dates throughout the season, none of which came to fruition due to delays.

The stadium was originally supposed to open against Liverpool way back on September 15, but a little way through March 2019 and we are still waiting.

However, the plan to open the ground before the quarter finals of the Champions League may be music to some fans’ ears, as it would put to be one persistent joke from rival supporters.

That infamous advert claiming Tottenham’s new stadium was the only place to watch Champions League football in London really came back to bite the club this season.

It looked for a moment or two that Spurs would be knocked out before getting a chance to host a top European game there, but hopefully that is no longer the case.

Pochettino said (Football London): “We hope yes it should be ready, should be fantastic to play Champions League in the new stadium. I think it’s going to be a fantastic boost for us, all the fans, the players and staff are so excited to move there. It’s feel like our new stadium and it’s going to be one positive after eight or nine months that the people can talk about.”
