‘You are not in prison’ – Graham Roberts takes to Twitter to react to Spurs defender

Danny Rose is certainly not one to shy away from speaking his mind or creating controversy with his opinions.

His relationship with the North London faithful somewhat soured following his interview with The Sun in 2017 in which he claimed that he and his Spurs team-mates are not paid their true worth, his desire to move back north and for the club to sign big names which you did not have to Google.

He also continued to be vocal since moving to Newcastle on loan in January, suggesting that he failed get a fair chance under Jose Mourinho (Independent), a claim which the Spurs head coach has since responded to (Charlie Eccleshare).

The left-back recently held a live interview with Instagram channel don.emusic (as relayed by Football.London) in which he has looked back on his career.

In the interview, the England international revealed that he was desperate to leave Tottenham after the 2016-17 season.

Rose’s revelation has not gone down well with Tottenham legend Graham Roberts, who claimed he was sick of the defender’s constant complaining about wanting to leave the Lilywhites.

Roberts took to Twitter to post the following scathing message about Rose:

However, Roberts did dial back some of his words and insisted that he does like Rose’s outspoken nature.

I get Roberts’ frustration and there is no doubt that Rose has been guilty of complaining too much to the press in the past. However, I question whether Roberts has fully listened to Rose’s interview on this occasion.

The defender certainly was not being disrespectful to the club and was just revealing the reason behind his mental health struggles when discussing his desire to leave Tottenham in 2017.
