‘You are the issue’ – Graham Roberts hits out at departed Spurs star

Graham Roberts has taken to social media to criticise Tanguy Ndombele after the midfielder’s recent comments about his spell at Tottenham.

Ndombele completed a loan move to Lyon on transfer deadline day, with the Ligue 1 club paying a loan fee of €1.4m (£1.1m), with the option of making the deal permanent at the end of the season (OL).

The Frenchman returns to his former stomping ground two and a half years after Spurs broke their transfer record to bring him to North London (BBC Sport).

Unfortunately, the 25-year-old was not able to fulfil his potential at Spurs, finding it difficult to earn a regular spot in the starting eleven at various points under four different managers, as well as interim head coach Ryan Mason.

On sealing a return to Lyon, Ndombele opened up on his time at Tottenham, admitting that it was not easy to play under five different managers (Get French Football News).

The midfielder’s comments did not sit well with Roberts, who responded to Ndombele suggesting that maybe he was the issue.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Ndombele’s intention behind the comments was to absolve himself of any blame for his struggles at Spurs.

Unfortunately, the midfielder’s attitude and stamina made him a poor fit for the Premier League.

I am rooting for him to do well back at Lyon as that is the only way Spurs would be able to recoup a  decent portion of the fee that they paid for him.
