‘You can see’ – Rival Premier League boss makes claim about Conte at Spurs

Brendan Rodgers has claimed the tactical changes Antonio Conte has implemented at Tottenham Hotspur are already clearly noticeable.

Spurs have won three and drawn one of their four Premier League games since Conte took over a month and a half ago, conceding just one goal in the process.

That improvement is particularly significant considering how poor the North Londoners were defensively under Nuno Espirito Santo.

However, Conte’s men have had three of their games postponed over the last couple of weeks, thus halting their march to a top-four spot.

Tottenham’s clash at the King Power Stadium on Thursday was the latest to be called off after both clubs were hit by a COVID-19 outbreak, with the Premier League ruling just hours before the match that it would not go ahead.

Speaking earlier in the week, Rodgers admitted this Spurs side are a different team under Conte, although the Leicester boss did insist the Italian needs time to get all of his ideas across to the squad.

Rodgers said in his pre-match press conference (via Leicester Mercury): “It’s going to take time for Antonio coming in. It takes that little period.

“You can see the changes despite a very limited period of training time.

“It’s not like pre-season when you can put in place your methods. It’s pretty much been a back three. He will look to develop it.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I have been surprised how soon some of Tottenham’s players have adapted to the new system under Conte. They have also been able to raise their physical fitness considerably in a short period.

Unfortunately, the Covid outbreak has hampered some of the good work that Conte and his coaching staff have done.

While the break is not a bad thing, the problem is that the Italian has not been able to use the last few weeks to drill the side on the training field, with many of his players having to isolate.

There also remains the question of when those players who have recovered from Covid would be able to train with full intensity again.
