‘You don’t speak about your club like that’ – Carragher hits out at Conte for angry rant

Jamie Carragher has taken aim at Antonio Conte after the Italian produced a stunning rant in his post-match press conference following his side’s 3-3 draw against Southampton.

After his side’s failure to see out the win despite leading by two goals with less than 15 minutes to go, Conte accused his players of playing for themselves rather than the team (Football.London).

The Italian also took aim at the club, insisting that they are used to failure over the last two decades irrespective of the managers they have appointed.

It had already been reported that Tottenham and Conte were expected to go their separate ways at the end of the season (Daily Mail) but the 53-year-old’s rant might perhaps convince the North London club’s hierarchy to act immediately.

Carragher has now taken to social media to insist that Conte had no right to talk about his employers the way he did, given the bumper contract he is on.

Here’s what the former Liverpool man tweeted:

I cannot believe that there are actually some Spurs fans who are defending Conte for his rant and congratulating him for calling out the players and the hierarchy.

Conte’s comments were aimed purely at self-preservation because he has failed at Tottenham despite being backed.

The Italian has been given a free rein to get rid of the players he does not want and he has brought in 11 new players during his three transfer windows.

So, if he does have an issue with the players’ attitude, that only reflects poorly on his own decision-making.
